Jimmie Durham was born in Washington Arkansas in 1940.Ο J. D has been active in theatre , performance and literature in the U.S.A and Europe since the early 1960's.He has exhibited at the  Museum van Hedendaagse Kunstin  in Gent, at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels,  at ICA in London, at Documentain in Kassel, at the Hamburg Kunstverein , at FRAC in Reims , at the Wittgenstein Hausin in Vienna, at the Whitney Biennial , at Kunstverein in Munich, at the Venice Biennale, among others.
Jimmie Durham  is one of the organizers of the American Indian Movement, the  Director of the International Treaty Council and a representative at the United Nations .
